The Freelancing community in Pakistan is growing by leaps and bounds. While it has given the tech-savvy youth the ability to work at their own leisure, it has also helped them earn respectable income.
Until very recently, freelancing was a limited phenomenon. However, numerous initiatives by Government bodies such as the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB), KP Information Technology Board (KPITB) and others, Pakistani freelancers have earned international recognition, becoming Asia’s biggest epicenter for the internet’s ever-expanding market of remote work.
This was revealed by Payoneer Global Gig Economy Index Report for 2nd Quarter 2019. According to report published by one of the leading International payment platforms, Pakistan not only registered 47% growth in freelancing, but also became the 4th fastest growing freelance market in the world. The much touted software and global outsourcing power house, India ranked at 7th position.

Given the limited ecosystem, ranking just below US, UK and Brazil, means a lot for the budding freelancing community of Pakistan.
While it shows the effectiveness of the government’s initiatives, it also is a telling account of how passionate the youth is to materialize the growing availability of internet connectivity to promote economic growth of the country.
