Pakistan India agree to hold talks on Kartarpur corridor.

After a hiatus of more than 3 months, the Kartarpur Corridor project gets fresh impetus as India has proposed to hold talks on the project between July 11 and 14 in Wagah, Pakistan.

Both sides will discuss a draft agreement that will finalize the project’s infrastructure, alignment and facilitating the movement of Sikh yatrees.

India had previously postponed a meeting planned for April 2 citing reservations on the alleged inclusion of Pro Khalistan activist in the Pakistani Committee. Pakistan had regretted India’s last minute unilateral postponement after a fruitful technical Meeting on March 19, calling it “incomprehensible”.

November 29 marks the birth anniversary OF Baba Guru Nanak, the founder of Sikhism and the first of the ten Sikh Gurus. Thousands of Sikhs flock over to pay homage to Baba Guru Nanak. If all goes well, the project can be completed well in time. India’s warming up to Pakistan on this project will come as a pleasant surprise for the Sikh Yatrees on both side of the border.
