LAHORE: The much renowned and vocal Pakistani actress Mehwish Hayat has taken the Indian film industry, Bollywood to task for its ‘hypocrisy’ of mistreating Pakistani talent while at the same time stealing Pakistani hit songs in its projects.
Her latest jab at Bollywood came in the wake of Alia Bhatt’s recent music video debut with the Punjabi song ‘Prada’ that bears veritable resemblance with the Pakistani hit song ‘Gore Rang Ka Zamana’ that was originally sung by the erstwhile from ‘Vital Signs’ album.
After it was pointed out by many Pakistani Twitter users, Hayat accused Bollywood of plagiarism in a tweet.
The song, ‘Gore Rang Ka Zamana’, written by Shoaib Mansoor and was released as part of ‘Vital Signs’ Volume 1.
Hayat also slammed Shah Rukh Khan’s latest Netflix production ‘Bard of Blood’. “This just vindicates what I have been saying. Another week, and yet another anti-Pakistan project,” she shared on Twitter.
Hayat had maintained her stance in an opinion piece written earlier for CNN, where she had said, “Indian PM Modi has arguably co-opted and weaponized the country’s film industry. It’s difficult, often impossible, for Pakistani actors to find work in India.”
